KlikMee technology eliminates the torture of access to digital content and services and its navigation via mobile phones and allows their adequate personalisation relying on the concept of two-dimensional(2D) code. 2D is nothing but the younger brother of the notorious and omnipresent- barcode. In KlikMee slang, the 2D code is called „tag“. While traditional barcode has one dimension – thickness and distribution of vertical lines – another dimension of 2D code comes from the spatial layout of black and white boxes from which the 2D is made of. But let us leave the theoretical talking behind.
2D code was created in logistics as evolution of a barcode because of the need to place greater amounts of data. In comparison with widespreaded type of barcode in use today – the so-called UPC barcode – which placed a maximum of 12 numerical characters (numbers), 2D codes can accommodate up to several thousands of alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers). Larger capacity of the 2D codes has brought an increased robustness. In other words, 2D codes stay readable in spite of possible large degree of damage – even up to 60% in certain types of 2D codes. Using a mobile phone camera to scan a tag, which is located in a visual medium, just like our friendly lady in the local greengrocery scans the barcode on our favorite chocolate, mobile phone automatically access certain content or service, based on the content of the tag, just as the previously mentioned friendly lady sees the name, price, etc.. of our chocolate. The whole process lasts a few seconds and it is fully automated. Application of 2D codes for the automation of access to web pages via mobile phone was known to the public before KlikMee technology was presented.
